Our Top Real Estate TV-Show Picks
By Ale Zamora
From drama to reality, the many, many program options our television provides us with can be quite overwhelming, especially when trying to find something new to watch. Sure, you could watch that new dramatic show everyone is raving about or turn on that new reality show that has everyone laughing, but have you ever just wanted a TV show that was mindless and relaxing, but inspiring and exciting at the same time? If you’re a fan of what we just described, then you’d surely love the real estate/design side of TV. There’s an array of options that you’ve probably heard of on channels like Create and HGTV, so we’ve broken down our favorites that cover a variety of topics, so there’s something for everyone!
Lakefront Bargain Hunt
Miles and miles of coastline are at our fingertips here in Florida, but what we don’t see everyday are gorgeous lakes and mountains that are terrain staples in many other states. This show explores those states that do, and it’s pretty awesome to see some of these amazing, cozy cottages and the views that come with them. Turn this program on to feel like you’re living lakeside in Lake Tahoe, or let it inspire your next vacation.
The Vanilla Ice Project
Did you even know 90s rapper Vanilla Ice was also a veteran in the house-flipping business? The more you know! This television show profiles the mansion scene right here in Palm Beach, where Rob Van Winkle (yes, Vanilla Ice’s real name) dedicates his 30- minute episodes to completely revamping some of the most elegant homes on the Florida coast. Mr. Ice’s personality gives this show a funny twist, making it our top pick for mindless watching.
House Hunters Renovation
You’re probably familiar with one of HGTV’s most popular shows, House Hunters, but did you know about the renovation version? House Hunters Renovation is essentially a classic episode of House Hunters, except it’s double the length of time because it follows the couples through their entire renovation process, complete with before and after shots! This show is great for drawing design inspiration, and can give you a great idea of what the costs are for some major home projects.
