5 Ways to Add Something to Your Master Bedroom

Your bedroom is your oasis, the private nook you retreat to at the end of a long day. At the heart of the room is your bed, something we’re sure you took great care to perfect for maximum coziness, from your mattress to your pillows and bedding set. Everything else in the room is truly unique to you-- no bedroom looks exactly alike, from its layout to the decor you add. When you have a master suite, much more space is involved, and, arguably, it’s the highlight of the home! When selling your home, a master suite is an addition that many people look for. In fact, according to Home Advisor, adding a master bedroom to your home can produce a 63% return on investment! Whether you have one or not, sprucing up the main bedroom of your home is always a good idea, but if you don’t have the budget for a crazy renovation, keep reading this blog for five things you can easily bring into your space.

1. Bring in the plants

Add some greenery to your bedroom by bringing in real (or fake!) plants to your room! Not only is it a great design element, but having indoor flora can reduce stress levels, boost productivity, improve air quality, and more, according to Healthline. Wondering where to find the perfect plants? Try visiting some local nurseries, like Mac’s Garden Center or Elegant Orchids in Delray Beach.

2. Add a seating area

Have a little extra space in your bedroom that you’re not quite sure what to do with? Turn it into a seating area! Perhaps it’s by the window or at the front of the bed; wherever it is, a space to sit other than your bed may prove to have more than one use, like a spot to read a book or tie your shoes before heading out the door. While big shops like Ikea have pieces that are sure to work well, try visiting your local thrift store as well-- you never know what kind of unique piece you may find!

3. Install a unique light fixture

If you’re looking for something that will make your bedroom pop and immediately draw the eye, there’s no better solution than installing a unique light fixture. Whether it’s something minimal like this sculptural finished chandelier or something that mimics a floral arrangement like this modern linear light fixture, be sure to find something you truly love; after all, you’ll probably be looking up at it from your bed when you lie down!

4. Pick a color theme

This tip involves potentially changing more than one aspect of your entire bedroom to put together a more cohesive look. Whether you establish a theme (think minimalist, modern, or bohemian) or just pick your favorite color or two, find pieces that have some uniting element. For instance, in the photo above, navy blue is the color theme, and everything from the bed spread and wall art to the rug and curtains is a different shade of dark blue. The end result is a captivating, put-together space! We love looking at Pinterest for inspiration ideas for this tip.

5. Incorporate a canopy bed frame

It may seem old fashioned, but many modern canopy bed frames out there today look like actual pieces of art rather than furniture! Experiment and go out of the box; some distinct examples we like are this enchanted forest bed frame, an arched design, and this ruched or draped look
