Talk of the Town: Boynton Beach

Did you know that the region of South Florida stretches over 100 miles along the coastline? Saying you’re from this area or are looking for homes to purchase here requires a little more specification given the large amount of area the term “South Florida” encompasses. Perhaps you want to live in a more metropolitan area like Miami or West Palm Beach, or maybe a smaller coastal town like Boynton Beach or a development in Weston is more your fancy. Regardless of your preferences, even those example towns we just listed are all a substantial distance away from one another! If you’re searching for a rental property or to buy a home here in South Florida, you’ll probably want to familiarize yourself with the many different cities and townships this area has to offer. While the best way to do so is to find an experienced local realtor you trust (like our agents!) to be your guide, having your own background knowledge of our slice of paradise is a good idea, too. To help you do this, we’re starting our “Talk of the Town” blog post series, where we’ll feature different cities in our area and do a mini-profile on each to give you a better idea of the local scene, cost of living, lifestyle, and more! In this installment, we’re diving deep into Delray Beach, a seaside village once named “The Most Fun Small Town in America.”

Setting the Scene

Just north of Delray Beach lies the quaint seaside town of Boynton Beach, a short drive away from West Palm Beach and about 57 miles north of Miami. West of the intracoastal, the city of Boynton Beach contains a mall, golf courses, breweries, a walking trail, and more, all within its city limits. Once you make the cross over the bridge, you can find countless waterfront dining options and a mix of public and private beaches that are usually less busy than other surrounding spots. If you're looking for an affordable neighborhood with all the essentials, nearby beaches, and easy accessibility to other larger surrounding cities, Boynton Beach may be the city for you.

A Peak at the Housing Market

Whether you’re looking for more affordable single-family homes or townhouses or options in more exclusive country clubs, Boynton has a variety of housing options for sellers and renters of all ages & lifestyles. According to Realtor.com, the median listing price in Boynton Beach is $395K, and the median rental price is $2,500/month. Inventory is relatively high compared to the rest of Florida, so available options do exist. The most popular neighborhoods in the area are Aberdeen, Hunters Run, and Indian Spring, all varying in listing prices for whatever you're looking for. For families with young children, Boynton Beach also boasts several highly rated schools in the area, like Sunset Palms Elementary School, Ben Gamla Charter School, and Somerset Academy Canyons. No matter your lifestyle or preferences, you’re sure to find an option that’s best for you in this area.
