Destination: St. Augustine
For a historic & beach vacation all in one, road trip to St. Augustine, the presumed “oldest city in the United States” known for its Spanish colonial architecture and rich Florida history. Here, you can walk the streets of downtown to peruse quaint local businesses and restaurants, take tours of old churches and fortresses, and hit the beach, where the sand is so firm you can even drive your car on it! St. Augustine is about a 4 hour drive north from South Florida, making it a doable road trip destination for a quick weekend getaway.
